Went with my dad to look at wood for a piece of furniture we plan on building. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and answered all of our questions. We will definitely be returning for future projects.
My first visit was to look for a tool to cut angles in wood. I was completely new to woodworking and had no idea what to look for so I explained what I was trying to do and asked what I should use. The staff showed me a small hand mitre box and a very expensive variable hand mitre system. When I explained that these didn't really fit my needs, the staff person said "Well, I guess your project isn't getting built then" and walked away. I had never experience something like that in a store before. I ended up asking my coworkers about the project and was directed by them to buy a power mitre saw at Home Depot, which worked perfectly for the project.
The customer service here is terrible. I have been to the store twice now and both times, the staff were downright rude.
On Saturday Aug 5 2017 , my fiance and her daughter visited the store and was followed by the the store associate making them feel uncomfortable . This associate started making reference to them stealing wood from the store. In 2017 we still have BS like this happening.
In the one month that we have lived in the neighborhood we have been to Rockler Woodworking and Hardware Sandy Springs at least 8 times. They have exactly what we have wanted and friendly helpful staff too!
I assumed that maybe I caught the staff on a bad day so I recently tried visiting this Rockler location again, this time to ask about lumber. I spoke to a different staff member than my first visit but the experience was the same. I asked if he had a moment for a question about lumber and his response was "Our lumber is back there" and he began walking away. I politely persisted and tried to ask my actual question (Does Rockler sell dimensional poplar lumber?). He answered "No" and began walking away again. I tried one more time to ask if he might know of any other lumber sources that might sell that type of poplar and he curtly replied that "No one sells that anywhere". That sounded strange to me so I went home and called various lumber sources in the Atlanta area and they confirmed that they can sell it. So either the staff at Rockler lacked knowledge of how lumber is sold or simply didn't care.
Horrible customer service, and the staff knows close to nothing about the products they sell.
As someone who is new to woodworking and is excited to get into the hobby, I was happy when a nice woodworking store like Rockler opened near me. However, based on my interactions with their staff, I will not be returning and I can't recommend it to anyone else that I know.
