Not sure why the police have a google review,

These guys have always been good officers and a good police force. No issues from me. Honestly of all the cities I have lived in SSPD have been the best.

Finger prints for gun carry permit

I am afraid to write a review because Sandy Springs police can look up my information and possibly give us a hard time somehow. However, I will be strong and courageous and do so. So, if something happens as a result of this review....everyone knows the reason. Someone I know, who is from another country, had their passport go missing. Not sure what happened to it. The person went to Sandy Springs police station to report it. It is required by their country's Embassy to have a police report in order to it replace it. Well, at the Sandy Springs police station, the officer refused to help them! His exact intimidating words were..."WE DON'T DO THAT HERE." Then, he repeated it again staring my friend down and with a VERY strong authoritative voice so that my friend would not even have a chance to explain how URGENT it was to have a police report. Anyway, Obviously.....the police do make police reports. The behavior of the police person was an OBVIOUS attempt to not be a social servant, a power trip, prejudice, mean attitude. We are people who support the police and have never had any problems. We are normal citizens. However, to be disrespected and lied to in such accord is not acceptable. I ask, in my authoritative voice, AT WHAT POINT DO THE POLICE STOP BEHAVING AS POLICE FOR (FOR) THE PEOPLE AND BECOME A GANG WITH GOVERNMENT LETHAL PROTECTIVE POWER? I am from Georgia and lived there most of my life. I know Sandy Springs police along with a few other departments have changed a great deal. Since the new 911 center went up, that area became a police state area. In 4 mile radius, I can see 4 to 7 police cars up and down Roswell road! I have heard others discuss how they are afraid to drive and go around as normal. I am happy for vigilance and for having police to protect. I have ALWAYS stood up for the police and tell everyone how difficult a job they have. However, Sandy Springs police have become the "hawks in the sky" to GET anyone that moves. It is not a normal way to patrol. It's as if the normal citizens are in "free roaming" prison. There is no trust from the police to ordinary people. Now, with this episode with the police refusing to do their job and serve needs, I am quite upset. Even as a WHITE person born in the United States (not even an African American issue), I am afraid to confront them about it for fear of retaliation of some sort. (am I in China?) This a HUGE first for me! VERY UPSET. It's my first time to ever feel fear and lack of confidence in the police.

What could have taken less than 5 minutes took 20. I was the first and only customer but had to wait 5 minutes while the clerk chatted with her co-worker showing something on her phone to her co workers, giggling about her weekend etc. (This was Mon morning, 8:35). I was the only one there, waiting. She then walks into the back office to get something, and I saw her through the window chatting with co workers along the way, more giggling, jokes and then she caught me watching her and she decided to move back to her area - another 5 minutes. Then she just chats in the room for another few minutes and then calls me off the list even though I was the only one there and there were no other names on the list when I signed in. I walk inside - more chit chat and giggling with her coworkers while this simpleton s-l-o-w-l-y preps the computer to take finger prints. (Hint to SS PD: If you can't hire someone who can chit chat and prep a computer for something that's done repetitively, then have her shutup and just do her job.) She finally takes my prints and then gives me my change for the $10 fee and I leave - that took about a minute. I made sure to count my change to make sure she subtracted $10 from $20 correctly.

If she got paid by the number of applicants she processed, it would be a 100% difference ... then again, with her, who knows?

Best customer service you can find. Especially at the permit office in this municipal complex. A joy to work with.

Keep the city safe, take care of the people who need help, just all around wonderful department not out to get anyone.
